1969 Phu Cat Re-visited
Oh yeah! Big time movie-deal is in the works. I'm not looking to be just another content-fuller for any of the sub-hubbers at media inc. What I'm looking for is real competition for my goods and services.
Noble Canine was published 5Jan19, same day 50 years ago I arrived at Phu Cat AB. This blog-post is about Vietnam. Agent Orange is about Vietnam. The story of Sentry Dogs and their handers is my story. I was one of them for 360 nights. It took me many years of leaving everything far away to finally face the fact that I did the job and did a good job. Its only been recently that I've even acknowledged being a Vietnam Veteran. The same time I started to organize my thoughts into an outline for a book about Sentry Dog Handlers in Vietnam.
Within a months-time I was struck down, affected by Agent Orange. For the next 3 to 4 years I felt I was dying. I was losing the use of my legs and I was scared of being wheel-chaired-bound. No writing was done during this time. I lost 70 pounds in three months. Muscle was destroyed through-out my body, nerves were destroyed from my hips to my toes, on both legs. I fell-down 32 different times, mostly on concrete. My major concern was finding something I could eat, I had to gain weight. By years six of my struggle with Agent Orange, I was gaining weight and had already crossed the 200 pounds, and I felt better.
All this time I was going to Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy. I had to relearn how to us both legs and arms. I couldn't lift a single drumstick, to weak. I spent almost three years going to Brooks Rehab Center, 3 times a weeks for years. The Brooks Team of Therapist are top-notch, got me up and going again. Thank you Brooks
The SOULS (the Band) had a reunion on 12April19. I visited Renee and husband George at there home in Gainesville, FL. Then I drove due south on Highway 441 to Astella and a short visit with Chuck. It was the high light of my weekend. First, I hadn't seen Renee since she left for college, way back in 1966. It's been that long. Chuck, I did a little better, but its been 10 to 15 years since seeing Chuck last. What I found out was, that the band members I've met with so far are in pretty reasonable shape. I've a core to re-start the old 60's group, THE SOULS! Stranger-things, happen?
Playing the drums again is what I'm all about, I've even taken lessons. I'm 70 years old and can kick hell out of a set of drums. Just one more gig!
I've asked former band member to participate in writing the musical-score for the movie Noble Canine.
"Noble Canine", my book is available at Amazon and Fine Book Stores New Earth-wide.
